Following in the footsteps of fellow Sheffield-natives such as Richard Hawley and the Arctic Monkeys, recent Goldsmiths’ graduate Alfie Connor, has unveiled his debut release which comes in the form of a beautifully somber single titled, 'Stranger', out 23rd March 2015 via new imprint, Talking Shop Records.
Seamlessly fusing soothing R&B sensibilities with finely crafted songwriting, 'Stranger' explores the complicated but familiar story of a one-sided relationship. A relatable narrative to most, yet wonderfully told through Connor’s bittersweet and honest lyrics.
Accompanying Connor’s debut offering is B-side, Lie To You. An afro-beat tinged toe-tapper that despite its sunny and melodic disposition carries much of the same dark lyrical depth and sensibilities of its counterpart.
It’s the raw potential of Connor that’s most appealing; not just in the inventiveness he brings to his music, but as a songwriter with as much understated ability to write a catchy hook as he does to expose himself poetically via his personal and variable prose.
Already demonstrating his boundless potential, Connor’s 'Stranger' is an emphatic statement of things to come from this undeniable one To Watch for 2015.
Having spent the last few months in the studio honing his craft, Connor will perform at Dot to Dot Festival 2015.
