Laura Welsh

Euphoric electro-pop

Thursday 22nd May 2014

Staffordshire-born Laura Welsh’s euphoric electro-pop has got music critics raving, and musicians clamoring to work with her. 2013 saw her play to two thousand plus people at the iTunes festival and tour with current darlings of the music industry London Grammar and Ellie Goulding. Her earlier tracks have seen her collaborate with some of the most innovative artists of the moment; Dev Hynes, Emile Haynie and Robin Hannibal of Rhye fame worked with her on previous singles including "Undiscovered", "Cold Front" and "Unravel", and now British producer and DJ du jour Jakwob with new track "Betrayal".

Laura and Jakwob spent a day holed up together in a studio to produce "Betrayal" - the result of this meeting of minds. Whilst not an official single release, both concluded that "Betrayal" was a little too special not to share, so they’ve kindly put it online. You’ll notice Jakwob’s signature throbbing beat throughout, whilst Welsh’s enthralling voice envelops the haunting lyrics. It’s this distinct combination of relevant lyrics and a catchy hook that makes her one to keep a close eye on in 2014. Expect a level of success from this girl that’s as big as her voice.

Laura Welsh will perform at Dot to Dot Festival 2013.
