Far from being yet another four-piece indie band hailing from East London, Satellite Stories are from the northern outpost of Oulu, Finland, close to Lapland. Live, their energetic show has given them a growing reputation as an amazing party band - the audience drives the band, as the band drives the audience, through a packed can of indie pop. In 2012, the BMG Publishing-signed band were crowned ‘no.1 blogged band’ for six consecutive weeks on Hype Machine, hit number one on We Are Hunted, and also sold out shows Tokyo, Berlin, Hamburg, Helsinki and Stockholm.
Comparisons to bands such as Vampire Weekend, The Wombats or Two Door Cinema Club only scratches the surface; Satellite Stories are not trying to re invent the wheel, their aim is to give as much fun and entertainment as possible and take the audience on the journey with them, to quote another Scandinavian band, "party is a trend that will never stop".
Recorded in old Eskimo lodge in Lapland, the self-produced debut album is slated for release late May, with new single ‘Kids Aren’t Safe In The Metro’ offering a punchy and dance-inducing taste of what is to come. 2013 saw Satellite Stories year begin with the Eurosonic showcase (which pricked the ears of NME et al), taking them onto tours of the US, Asia and the major European festivals.
