A Idles Photo
Joe, Idles.
We're from all over. We met in Bristol but we're spread out between Bristol, Newport and London, which is nice as it give us the space to not kill each other. I'm from Newport by way of Bristol.
I sing in Idles.
Dead man's clothes.
I'd make a track with Otis Redding just to hear his voice in the flesh. Try a Little Tenderness is his beacon.
I haven't been away long enough to miss anything except for my lady.
Thee Oh Sees at the Barcelona Apollo. It was the most wonderful carnage I've ever been a part of and the first time I'd truly appreciated live guitar sound. Blur at Glastonbury and Suuns at Apollo are close seconds; one for a unified mass gathering of magic feels and one for bonding over sound and finding joy in the sinister.
Tony Benn, Dennis Skinner, Nigel Talbot, the four pricks in my band.
I'd ask Lucien Freud to paint me or my old dear.
Idles are a post-punk band hailing from Bristol, their debut album 'Brutalism' will be released on 10th March 2017.
Their intense, frantic and infectious music is something best witnessed live, they will be on their own UK headline tour celebrating the album's release throughout March/April 2017.
'Ready or Not' by The Fugees.
'Astral Weeks' by Van Morrison.
The track would be 'Sweet Thing'.
My father introduced me to it as a way of expanding my musical tastes but in truth it changed my life forever.
'Negative' by A Frames.
'Hip Hop' by Dead Prez.
It blew my tiny stupid mind.
Every Lyric in 'On Coming From A Broken Home Pt 1' by Gil Scott-Heron - it should be taught at school.
It's restraint leaves me rabid, amazing band.
The song is so beautifully balanced between horrid and filth.
Consistently f***ing good music forever.
Well s*** hot.
