03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

something old, something new, something borrowed.

The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?

Bob Marley & The Wailers - Africa Unite

The first track I played on repeat was probably a Bob Marley song because my parents used to listen to Bob all summer long in the garden behind our house. I remember 'Africa Unite' being a huge favourite of mine and I still like to play it.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

Deafheaven - Sunbather

This is probably the hardest question but Sunbather is one of those albums that get you in a really special mood that I can’t even describe. It’s not for every day but so great in the right situation.

A song from your most memorable gig?

Sonny & Cher - I Got You Babe

We got a friend tickets for Cher for her birthday and didn’t really know what to expect but it turned out to be so much fun because we were just laughing and dancing all of the time.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

999 - Homicide

Don't ask me how to dance to this song...

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

Nand - Wohlfühlen

Ferdi is a friend of my flatmate and I just think he’s doing so well. He’s got this great ability of writing super honest songs in german without sounding too serious and they are danceable!

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

Refused - Rather Be Dead

I think you can’t listen to this song on a low volume.

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

The Kills - Cheap And Cheerful

"I’m bored of cheap and cheerful, I want expensive sadness" It reminds me of my best friend and me… wishing and dreaming and trying to look just as cool as Jamie and Alison.

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

Guided By Voices - Game Of Pricks

It’s such a short song that I always have the feeling I need to enjoy it as much as I can as long as it lasts.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Vanessa Da Mata - Boa Sorte

It’s one of my favourite songs to listen to on headphones while making my way home from a party. It always gets me in this special mood.
