A Cris Gamble Photo
My name is Cris Gamble and I’m from the South-East of Melbourne.
I make hip-hop music in a mixture of English and Spanish. Beats, rhymes and melodies.
Anything but common.
Immortal Technique’s show at the Espy. Hearing 'Golpe De Estado' was pretty hard.
Pretty much the only one that has always stuck with me was when I was writing – graffiti - a lot in my teens. The whole lifestyle defined me for a while until I started to get a bit older, although the clothing and get-ups still stuck with me.
Although I’m not a huge fan of the music particularly, I have to say Tame Impala has got that spot. Any multi-instrumentalist has got my vote but this dude makes some cool sh*t.
The Huntingdale Charcoal chicken shop has got to be it. I don’t really head out much so I can’t really call any music venues. I have to shout out Section 8 though for always being down for the cause and supporting me.
Probably Wilson’s Prom. I’m convinced that place isn’t even in Australia. There must be some kind of portal on entry cause it definitely seems like a different planet.
Honestly any open-ocean beach with nice white sand and blue water. We’re blessed with these in abundance.
I can barely remember what happened two days ago but the LAST track I played on repeat was an old Chilean song called 'Deja La Vida Volar' by Victor Jara.
'The Infamous' by Mobb Deep defined me. There were too many good songs on that record to pinpoint just one.
Like I just explained it’s also gotta be 'The Infamous' by Mobb Deep.
"You’re a slave to the money, then you die"
From 'Bitter Sweet Symphony' by The Verve. One of my all-time favourite songs but this line resonates with me. Totally agree with it but constantly chasing it.
'La Luz' by Kali Uchis. Such a wavy reggaeton joint.
'I GOT' by Julliano Sosa. I’ve got a whole playlist of these but this is a good one that I can think of off top of my head. Highly recommend.
'Walking On A Dream' by Empire Of The Sun. Makes me feel some sh*t in my soul.
At this moment off top of my head, it would have to be 'Con Altura' by Rosalía and J Balvin.
I think I just need to hear a real lame song to end an all-nighter just get me out of the mood. Something real dumb like 'The Monster Mash' or something like that.
I haven’t really gotten into much new artists lately but my 20-month-old son likes Kali Uchis so I’ve also been listening with him.
