A KiLLOWEN Photo
KiLLOWEN, out of Hayes Town, West London.
Laidback, individual and creative.
Tame Impala, saw them at the O2 Arena a couple years back, their stage design was crazy and the whole show was just sonically amazing. It almost felt like an out-of-body experience. When they played 'New Person, Same Old Mistakes' I totally lost it!
Kendrick Lamar because I’ve seen him live before and I know his band go crazy, he’s a big inspiration of mine. The other one would have to be Daft Punk because you know… they’re Daft Punk. Who wouldn't want to line up next to them?
Skater culture for sure, I basically grew up in Watford skatepark as a teenager, just trying to land tricks for hours and impress my mates… from young I’ve loved showing out. That and the underground/alternative scene in London, it’s filled with such amazing artists/musicians/film-makers/photographers etc and it’s so tight-knit! Your best friends will be the ones pushing you to levels you never even knew you could reach. Both of those subcultures really helped me develop the determination to succeed from early.
Gonna have to be J Dilla, that guy changed hip-hop music forever and is just a legend all round. There are so many questions I’d love to ask him, but even just watching him make a beat for an hour would be too dope.
Favourite venue I’ve ever played would probably be The 100 Club on Oxford Street when I opened for Connie Constance. So much history has been made in that room, it felt great to be able to follow in the footsteps of The Rolling Stones, The Clash, and even Oasis.
Probably Quincy Jones... I get that he’s hugely famous already but honestly, I still don’t think people understand the levels of what he’s done as a composer and a musician. Even better, he’s been killing it for like fifty years! That’s generational talent right there.
KiLLOWEN just released his new track 'Falling Up' with p-rallel. Listen, purchase or stream it via ffm.to/kxp-fallingup.
