03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Straight-Laced, Genuine, Streetwise.

The first track you played on repeat?

Green Day - Poprocks & Coke

When I first wanted to play guitar it was because of this song. My uncle played so he borrowed me one of his guitars and wrote down the chords for me. He also drew his own chord chart for me which was mind-blowing at the time. I played it on repeat until I nailed it.

A song from your favorite album?

Tom Petty - You Wreck Me

The recording of this album is insane. The mix is unreal. Rick Rubin produced this record and is one of my favourite producers. The song is pure rock n roll.

A song from your most memorable gig?

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats - Howling At Nothing

Saw these guys in Birmingham. One of the most talented/best musicians I've seen. The harmonies are insane and each member can play any instrument. They even swapped instruments during the gig! Sick.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

The Clash - Train in Vain (Stand by Me) - Remastered

The straight groove, the best chord on a guitar (A), the horns. Nuff said.

A new song you're listening to?

LOVEBREAKERS - Family Man

A song I wrote for my band LOVEBREAKERS. It’s influenced from some close friends of mine who recently started their own families. It’s a ‘homage’ to those guys. It’s that back-and-forth of ‘DAMN THIS SUCKS, BUT I WOULDN’T CHANGE IT FOR THE WORLD.’

Best song to turn up loud?

Rage Against The Machine - Know Your Enemy

Turn up to 11 at all times!

A song that defines the teenage you?

Millencolin - No Cigar

I first heard this when I played the PS1 game Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2. Like thousands of kids across the World, I discovered punk music from playing this game. It is undoubtedly still the best soundtrack to a video game ever.

An anthemic song?

Oasis - Rock 'n' Roll Star - Remastered

"Tonight, I'm a rock n roll star"

Best song to end an all-nighter?

The Mamas & The Papas - California Dreamin' - Single Version

Depending on what type of night you had, this is the perfect come-down tune for LA lovers. After a heavy one, watch the sun come up at 6am, play this and dream of California.
