Balancing modernism and tradition: looking forward with one eye on the past. Our progressive mindset was defined by Fred back in 1952, but it’s a philosophy that we continue to champion to this day. Our new Sydney shop was designed and built with this ethos at its heart – a considered blend of our past and future that’s quintessentially Fred Perry.
Where better to position such a place than in the heart of historic Darlinghurst? Sitting within the suburb that was known as “Razorhurst” during the roaring twenties, this used to be a place where shady figures shaped the city’s early subcultures. In the decades that followed, the area evolved into a vibrant hub for all facets of counterculture and the arts – from the Beat movement of the 1950s through to the Mods and Rockers of the 1960s.
Now, at the heart of it all sits Fred Perry. Like Darlinghurst itself, we honour tradition while embracing inclusivity – and we’re proud to call this our new home.
