Name, where are you from?
Daniella Lubasu, from Greater Manchester.

Describe your style in three words?
Eclectic, Creative, Inconstant.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Remi Wolf at Manchester Academy. Absolutely insane energy. She shows that you don’t have to make exclusively rock music to be an absolute rockstar. Also, she swapped places with her drummer at one point and while she drummed he made us chant positive affirmations to the band’s rock instrumental... I went for a gig, ended up getting free therapy - win win situation.

If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
Arctic Monkeys - I just know their fans are all intellectuals and can get so hyped so would give me the best energy. One Direction - I am aware that this would be a dysfunctional lineup, but I have to pay homage to ten-year-old me who had a massive boy band obsession... at heart, I’m still her.

Which Subcultures have influenced you?
Riot Grrrl, I am a feminist and also quite prone to anger, it’s almost like a subculture was made for me.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Freddie Mercury. 'Bohemian Rhapsody' is like the strangest, greatest song ever and I would just want to ask… why?

Of all the venues you’ve been to, which is your favourite?
Alexandra Palace. It fits so many people but weirdly didn’t feel that big to me. It’s where I went to my first gig so it will always be special.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
I’m gonna be vain, I’m gonna put myself down here. All it took was a mental breakdown and two free softwares and my biggest track was born. I think I should get a trophy for my weirdness or something.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
'Wildest Dreams' by Taylor Swift. Eleven-year-old me would walk to school blaring this feeling like the love interest in a rom-com... the vibes everyone wants to feel sometime.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'Cocoon' by Catfish and the Bottlemen. I’m still teenage me, and I’m still obsessed with love and this song just makes me want to be in it all the time.

One record you would keep forever?
'Still Into You' by Paramore. I remember jumping to this at like 9 years old, I’ve just always been drawn to that rockstar energy.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
“we were wild and florescent, come home to my heart”

From 'Supercut' by Lorde. It’s so tattooable, I want to make music that makes people feel that deeply and want to live and experience more.

A song you wished you had written?
'Waiting Room' by Phoebe Bridgers. I’m such a hopeless romantic and I don’t know if I’ve heard a more profound expression of that feeling than this.

Best song to turn up loud?
'Haunted' by Laura Les. It’s just so chaotic, if my brain was a song, this is probably what it would sound like. In a good way.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Nuketown' by Ski Mask. I like screamy, aggressive rap, can’t explain it. I wish I had the level of cool to pull this kind of music off, but for now, I will appreciate it from a distance.

The song to get you straight on the dance floor?
'Play That Funky Music' by Wild Cherry. Who doesn’t love a bit of a funky disco vibe?

Best song to end an all-nighter?
'Forever' by Labrinth. His music is so peaceful and pretty, makes a good lullaby.

Any new bands you are into at the moment?
'Roman Holiday' by Fontaines D.C. You know that movie scene where the rebel is wearing shades, smirking and walking in slow motion after graffitiing or burning something down? This is what she’s listening to.
