Old Man Diode & Rick Holland "Love Parade" live ft. IamFya

Thursday 27th June 2013

A project we've been following keenly since October 2011, Old Man Diode & Rick Holland's debut album, "The King Krill", was released earlier this year to critical acclaim from the likes of The Quietus and Clash, and has now made the transition from recorded electronic medium, to the live music landscape.

The ambitious project boasts many collaborators among its collective: Onallee (Roni Size/Reprazent), Beth Rowley, Chris James (Stateless) and Andrew Plummer (World Sanguine Report) and the raw new talent of IamFya, who provides the vocal for the dark dub-bass driven "Love Parade" - viewable below:

Setting diverse vocalists and live drumming against the carefully composed electronic soundscape, The King Krill's live incarnation looks set to succeed where many live dance-floor-culture influenced performances fall down, the superb tension of the album channeled effectively into live energy.

On developing The King Krill into a live project Rick Holland explains, "A fascination with machine music and a growing sense of unease at the political stasis of growing up in the UK in the 1980s onwards informed the scattershot electronica and glitchy individualism ... But so did the freedoms of making music, and the collective yearning for live experience, 'the linking magic that we all dive deep to save.'"
