03Interview

Name, where are you from?
Sonny Hall, South London.

Describe your style in three words?
Scally, Tattered, Skeeno.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
The Libertines at the Boogaloo pub, Highgate. Summer of 2016. Fame and fortune.

If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
Green Day in their early days

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Therese Racket's lot.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Chet Baker because he is a mystery as much as he is bold in his ways of dealing with certain things. His ways of feeling Love, the unrequited side, definitely helps me at times. Through the thrills ‘n spills of loving someone.

Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
Never performed anywhere as I’m not a musician, however, I am going to perform my poetry with my dear friend, Bakar on his UK tour.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Amy Winehouse Amy has a sincere place in my heart.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
Marilyn Manson - 'Sweet Tooth'

A song that defines the teenage you?
Green Day - 'When I Come Around'

One record you would keep forever?
Billie holiday - 'Am I Blue'

A song lyric that has inspired you?
Chet Baker - 'Born To Be Blue'
Well, I guess I'm luckier than some folks,
I've known the thrill of loving you.
And that alone is more than I was created for
'Cause I was born to be blue.

The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
The Specials - 'Friday Night, Saturday Morning'

A song you wished you had written?
Chet Baker - 'Deep In A Dream'
Then from the ceiling, sweet music comes stealing;
We glide through a lover's refrain, you're so appealing
That I'm soon revealing my love for you over again.
My cigarette burns me, I wake with a start;
My hand isn't hurt, but there's pain in my heart.

I was listening to this song late at night in my room while smoking a cigarette by my door. I absorbed these lyrics and strangely I was in this place, exactly. I had a cigarette burn on my hand from a few days earlier but it was not an issue for I felt something else. All a bit mad! His music definitely soothes me.

Best song to turn up loud?
Squeeze - 'Cool For Cats'
Brings out the boy in me.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
A$AP Rocky - 'Houston Old Head'

Best song to end an all-nighter on?
Paul Desmond - 'Glad To Be Unhappy'

Any new bands you are listening to right now?
Homeshake - 'Serious'
