Name, where are you from?
Kieran Shuddall of Circa Waves, Liverpool.
Describe your style in three words?
Wear whatever’s boss.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
NME Tour '06 Brixton Academy. Insane lineup. Maximo Park, Arctic Monkeys, We Are Scientists and Mystery Jets. My four favourite bands at that time.
If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
The Beatles and Arctic Monkeys. The Beatles are the best band ever and you’re wrong if you disagree! Arctic Monkeys have made incredible original music for so long. Tunes I’d recommend are 'Here, There and Everywhere' and 'Cornerstone'.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
I’d say '00s indie really shaped what Circa Waves started out as. The spikey energy was all I needed to get through my teenage years.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Have a chat with Nat King Cole. Listen to 'Unforgettable - alternative take'. It’s amazing to hear how spot on his voice is in every single take.
Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
The Kazimier in Liverpool. A thriving beautiful room with a great history and atmosphere. Liverpool council knocked it down to make flats. Nice one.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
The sound engineers. They work 16/18 hour days sometimes. The producer and artist get to be all creative and they are left to sort the mess out. Proper grafters, I have a lot of respect for them.
Circa Waves will release their third album 'What's It Like Over There?' on 5th April 2019.
