'I'm Outta Time'

It's 10 years since Oasis released their penultimate single.

Thursday 6th December 2018

Taken from 'Dig Out Your Soul', Oasis' final proper studio album, the prophetically titled 'I'm Outta Time' was the penultimate single to be released by the band, followed only by the equally fittingly titled 'Fallin Down'.

It signalled the end of a good run for the world-conquering Manchester band. Their first single since 1994, to miss the UK top ten, ending an unbroken 22 record streak of top tens. Of course, that may well have more to do with the change of the market and the compilation of charts, than it has to do with the quality of Oasis' output. The record peaked at number 12 in the UK charts, so only just missed the goalpost and the song was also critically lauded, many pointing out the maturity that the songwriting demonstrated, drawing comparisons to post Beatles John Lennon.

Touring to support the album followed in 2009 and eventually in late Summer tensions between the Gallagher brothers reached their inevitable outcome with the bands live engagements finishing with little notice, only to be followed by the now famous statement from Noel Gallagher:

"It is with some sadness and great relief...I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer".

It appears that time really was running out for Oasis, much to the dismay of their avid fans.
