Name
Kengo Kakudate/Yogee New Waves.

What do you do?
Artist

Where are you from?
Waseda in Tokyo.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Beck at Fuji Rock in 2014. People say miracles happen at Fuji Rock. They do and I was captivated by Beck - it was great.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Manga - I did not read books a lot as a child, instead, my elder brother and I exchanged comics a lot. The first comic I bought was 'Magical Taruruto-kun', I was not the right age for it though. My favourite title is 'Hinotori'.

Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
Shinjuku Marz - where Yogee New Waves were nurtured. The audience can see acts from both upper and lower levels. You could feel the emotion and passion from the fans. It was my first experience of an audience climbing over the barriers.

If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
Kiyoshiro Imawano. He was an inspiration to me. I never got to see a gig with him, but he became like a god to me.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Marilyn Monroe. She was really beautiful, had amazing spirit and sex appeal.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
“Hi, How Are You” - a folk duo from Kyoto. They are not active now, but I recommend their songs released by Rose Records, Mr Keiichi Sogabe’s label.
