03Interview

Name, where are you from?
My name is Lina Giselle, born and raised in Colombia, then moved to Italy with my family when I was 17 years old.

What do you do?
I’m a model, content creator and digital specialist.

Describe your style in three words?
Less is more.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
One of my favourite artists in the whole world, Kendrick Lamar performed here in Milan at Magazzini Generali back in 2013. During the concert, we created a connection and he took my phone and made videos from the stage and then we talked a bit after the show, I was shocked, it was so much fun.

If you could put any three bands in history on a lineup?
I would say Hermanos Lebron, Calle 13 and Kendrick Lamar. They have nothing to do with each other, but I really wish I could see them live.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
I’ve never really felt part of a specific subculture but when I was a teenager I felt I was part of Latin subculture called “floggers”, which definitely influenced my style and my love for social media and internet in general. Right now don’t think I’m part of any subculture but I feel a deep connection with the hip hop culture, minimalism and Afrolatino culture.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I’d really like to meet Héctor Lavoe, a salsa genius and pioneer. Everybody has told his story but I would love to hear it from him. Such an interesting and bizarre life. It’s hard to choose a song because every song is a masterpiece, musically and lyrically, one of the best of all times.

Where is your favourite independent venue in Italy?
I haven’t been in a lot of venues here in Italy but I like when there’s an intimate atmosphere where you can create a connection with the artist, I felt that every time I was at Apollo in Milan.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
I can’t choose one right now because I really like so many, but at the moment I would say Ama Lou.
