The Not Too Young Swiss Soul Weekender aims to keep soul progressive and alive, championing the genre’s many diverse sub-varieties.
The Swiss Soul Weekender is a three day programme full of ‘60s Soul, Northern Soul, Crossover, Funk, Modern Soul, Boogie, Reggae and Rocksteady played by DJs and collectors from all over Europe. This year’s billing also welcomes DJs from the US and Russia for the first time.
Now in its sixth year, the event will take place in Lucerne, Switzerland from 3rd - 5th March (2017).
Alongside soul all-nighters at venues such as Madeleine Bar and Bar59, the Swiss Soul Weekender also includes a Brunch, Soul & Record Fair due to take place in the unique setting of Neubad swimming pool.

Alena has been collecting obscure disco and funk records for the last 10 years, cultivating an extensive collection of dancefloor-filling vinyl. Her regular gigs include nights both in the UK and in Russia, including residencies at Bump in Hoxton, Buffalo Bar in Islington and Funk Explosion in Moscow.

Hendrik started collecting 45s at the turn of the century concentrating on Mod and ‘60s Garage, and eventually ended up running some regular parties in Berlin’s thriving club scene. Specialising in Northern Soul and Rare Soul 45s, he has recently started promoting bigger events under the flag of ‘Soul’d Up - Berlin’.

With an eclectic soul collection that includes Northern soul, funk, gospel and raw up-tempo ‘70s soul, Stockholm's Samuel Hugosson is well known on the Swedish soul scene, with this being his first major weekender DJ slot outside Sweden.

An avid collector of records, Aaron's main interests are soul, funk, and gospel 45s from all over the US. He has a particular emphasis on tunes originating in his home state of Virginia.

Ján Kovacovic (Mister Kova)
Shaped by a youth listening to Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis and George Clinton, up until five years ago Ján had only ever collected albums. Then in a small record shop in Vienna, he was persuaded to add some 45s to his collection. At around the same time he began to DJ and now plays regularly around the bars of Prague.
