The Copenhagen-based all girl band TARAS is living proof that the best of rock ‘n roll comes in unlikely packaging. Three girls, three instruments, and three cheeky voices and attitudes make up the phenomenon that is TARAS.
2014 is looking up for the trio: What do you do when your band’s on a break and you are suddenly asked to star in a national TV commercial along side some of your biggest idols? TARAS’ answer: “You hurry the **** up, grab your instruments, and get going!”
Apparently the girls left a lasting impression. In April they were travelling to London alongside the very same idols – The Danish rock icons in D-A-D. TARAS were supporting D-A-D at their concert at The Garage and went on tour with them afterwards in Denmark to sold out shows.
TARAS released their self-titled debut EP in 2012, and since then the girls have served as a hard hitting opening act for some of Denmark’s most successful rock bands: The likes of The Blue Van, Magtens Korridorer, and lately D-A-D. Just as well TARAS has played at Spot Festival, which is one of Scandinavia’s most important showcase festivals.
Musically the otherwise innocent looking girls in TARAS are full of potent surprises, and their love of rock ‘n roll makes their live performances vigorous and uninhibited. The Danish group is guaranteed to leave audiences as surprised as they will be entertained. It’s aggressive, it’s cheeky – It’s rock ‘n roll!
