Brooklyn’s The Skins will support Jake Bugg on a winter tour of North America. The band, built around a trio of siblings (Bayli, Reef, and Kaya Mckeithan) and featuring guitarists Daisy Spencer and Russell Chell, has also been working on a follow-up to their self-released/self-titled 2012 EP.
The young (ages 15-21) group’s early demos “Surf” and “Dead Hands” caught the attention of Rick Rubin, who has been mentoring and recording The Skins at Shangri-La Studios in Malibu, California.
The tour will feature merchandise by street artist Shepard Fairey, who has designed posters and album art for veteran acts Joan Jett, Led Zeppelin, Henry Rollins, Bob Mould and Love & Rockets.
A previous tour found The Skins supporting The Heavy and they have also played stand-alone gigs at the Afro Punk Festival, New York City’s CMJ Fest and South by Southwest 2013 in Austin, Texas.
