Name, where are you from?
My name is 7th Obi and I am from Waterford, Ireland and also Lagos, Nigeria.

Describe your style in three words?
Cosy, relaxed and functional.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
The time I won tickets to go see Joey Badass with like 50 other people at Birthdays in Dalston, I usually never win anything but I think that one was meant to be since he's one of the people who first got me into making music. It was to celebrate 5 year anniversary of his mixtape '1999', favourite song has to be 'FromdaTomb$'.

If you could be on the line up with any two bands or artists in history?
I would have to say Travis Scott and maybe like Jaden Smith, I'm a huge fan of their sounds and energy. I feel like they tap into the same otherworldly frequency that I'm on.

Which Subcultures have influenced you?
I'd say I'm kind of a product of the whole Odd Future, ASAP Mob, Pro Era, box logo Supreme, 5 panel era. That whole time from like 2011 to 2013 those subcultures allowed me to express a side of myself that was not happening around where I lived. I was a kid raised by the internet.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Patrice O'Neal, I know he could just drop some serious game that could change the way I see the world.

Of all the venues you’ve been to, which is your favourite?
Birthdays in Dalston, I'm not sure if it's still around anymore but it's my favourite just based on how close you get to the artist you're watching, very intimate and the energy is crazy.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
These two French guys called Paradis, they are so hard but yet very unknown, highly recommend checking out 'Toi et Moi' by them and heroine would have to be Kelela, she makes R&B that sounds like it's from the year 2077, listen to 'Waitin'.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
'Good Ass Intro' by Chance The Rapper. This is a hard one to remember but this is one song I can remember spinning loads when I was younger.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'She' by Tyler The Creator.

One record you would keep forever?
Majid Jordan (self-titled).

A song lyric that has inspired you?
"Good morning, look at the valedictorian, scared of the future while I hop in the Delorean"

From 'Good Morning' by Kanye West. It just represents to me to just do my own shit, don't worry what other people think, embrace the future, don't be scared of it and it will embrace you back.

A song you wished you had written?
'That's How You Feel' by Drake.

Best song to turn up loud?
'sweet sweet' by Travis Scott.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Saudade Vem Correndo' by Stan Getz or 'Just A Gigolo' by Louis Prima.

The song to get you straight on the dance floor?
'Sparky' by Cruel Santino.

Best song to end an all-nighter?
'Godspeed' by Frank Ocean.

Any new bands you are into at the moment?
Really into artists like Priya Ragu, Marzi, Odeal, Cochise and Kaleem Taylor at the moment.
