Name, where are you from?
Anna B Savage - from Crouch End in Landan. ‘Ello.

Describe your style in three words?
Meandering, introspective indie.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Craig David (first ever gig, blew my mind). I couldn’t speak for days afterwards because I’d been shouting all the lyrics all night.

If you could be on the line up with any two bands or artists in history?
Moses Sumney and Joni Mitchell. Two huge influences on me and two of the best and most diligent musicians I can think of that. I’d hope to take some of that on just by osmosis.

Which Subcultures have influenced you?
I’ve never been particularly good at choosing one thing and sticking to it, so there’s fair few here. Growing up I was a total greebo. I listened to lots of different music, a shit tonne of Jazz and pop, but stylistically was a textbook greebo (not much has changed to be honest). I remember thinking that Stereophonics and Marilyn Manson (who I listened to a lot of) were both from the same cloth. I also f*cking loved Tenacious D so much. I’m not exactly sure what subculture they were a part of, but I was in that 100%. I really loved a lot of disparate things in my teen years: musicals, choral music, indie, jazz and kind of more avant-garde pop and freak-folk type stuff. Again, I’m not exactly sure what kinds of subcultures that would fall in to other than just ‘indie’. Hardcore has quite a lot too, though that was a bit later. I was in a relationship with someone in a hardcore band and I learnt so much from him and about it. I also did feel like I didn’t really fit that scene but I cherry-picked different parts that resonated with me.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
This isn’t who it’d be, but this was one of my favourite songs when I was younger and this is a fitting moment to crowbar in 'Pangea' by Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin.

Of all the venues you’ve been to, which is your favourite?
The Deaf Institute, Manchester. It’s so intimate, beautiful, has such great wallpaper. I’ve had many a great night there, and it was the first time I saw Father John Misty play.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Lianne La Havas - I know she’s really big, but she should be THE BIGGEST. I’ve never seen such a star in all my days of gig goings.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
'Fallin' by Alicia Keys.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'The One and Only' by Chesney Hawkes or 'Don’t Know When But A Day’s Gonna Come' by Bright Eyes. I was a bit of a nightmare.

One record you would keep forever?
'Pink Moon' by Nick Drake.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
"Baby I’m hot just like an oven / I need your lovin"

From 'Sexual Healing' by Marvin Gaye.

A song you wished you had written?
'Reason To Stay' by Olivia Dean.

Best song to turn up loud?
'Sag Harbour Bridge' by Women.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Don’t Start Now' by Dua Lipa. If people actually knew me though, they’d know I love some pop.

The song to get you straight on the dance floor?
'Millionaire' by Kelis & Andre 3000.

Best song to end an all-nighter?
'It’s My House' by Diana Ross.

Any new bands you are into at the moment?
'Paddling' by Squid.
