Name, where are you from?
Alfie Kungu from Hebden Bridge

Describe your style in three words?
Sporty, XXL + Messy

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Jeff Mills + Hessle Audio in Amsterdam
I was with everyone I love, dancing in the sun.

If you could work with any artist in history?
Jim Henson the creator of The Muppets, because it looks like they all had so much fun making them all and doing the voices, I'd love to be on it and design some characters.

Which Subcultures have influenced you?
From growing up in the North as a teenager there was a surprisingly good scene of people who put on raves and free parties up in the moors around my area - loads of good music. I also connected a lot with people through graffiti which certainly influenced my approach to painting.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
David Attenborough as I could chat all day with him about animals, he is the best guy.

Of all the places you’ve shown your work, which is your favourite?
The ICA in London, it was a really proud moment for me to see my work there.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Hype Williams made some amazing music and managed to stay underground.
Ialsolisten toKnxweldge every day. I really rate what he does too.

To celebrate the opening of our new Coal Drops Yard shop, we've teamed up with indie trailblazers Crack Magazine to create ‘Departures’ – a zine and online series featuring five creatives and the journeys that have shaped them.
