Catfish & The Bottlemen Playlist

Friday 5th September 2014

Catfish & the Bottlemen's imminent debut album 'The Balcony' is due for release on September 15th on Communion/Island Records, and is available to preoder here.

Frontman Van McCann has put together a collection of his favourite tracks in this exclusive playlist, and watch the premiere of his accoustic version of 'Cocoon' below.

1. The Strokes -  Someday
We played in New York with the Strokes at the Governor’s Ball and it was unreal. When they played this live the crowd went wild. They’ve still got it.

2. The Cribs-  Be Safe
We saw them at Truck festival and they completely trashed the stage. I’d not seen a live band like that in ages.

3. Ida Maria – I like You So Much Better When You’re Naked
Although she’s very poppy, I’m not ashamed of liking her. I wanted my voice to be the lad version of hers.

4. Van Morrrison - Caravan
He’s my namesake, and the most miserable man in rock. I love him.

5. Girls-  Honey Bunny
A friend of mine got me into all this surf music and I got well into this tune. It's a sassy wee number!

6. The 2 Bears – Angels (touch me)
The guy who did our video for Fallout sent me this video as a reference point and I thought it was absolutely  class.

7. The National -  Don't Swallow the Cap
Matt Berninger’s lyrics are special man. After listening to The National I always feel inspired to write something of my own.

8. The Streets -  Has it come to this
Mike Skinner is my hero! He spoke to me and the way I was growing up! No other musician has ever come close to inspiring me like he has. He's absolute genius x

9. The Rolling Stones – Beast of Burden
This is THE song to go for a drive in the sun to! Tuneeeeeeeeee!

10 The Preatures – Is This How You Feel
I love this track- ’nuff said!
