Damon Albarn, Brian Eno - Africa Express

Monday 9th December 2013

Earlier this year, Blur frontman Damon Albarn led a trip to Mali along with fellow musicians Brian Eno, Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Nick Zinner, members of Metronomy and Django Django, Holy Other, Lil Silva, Cid Rim, Two Inch Punch, and more, who collaborated with native Malian musicians to produce the album 'Africa Express Presents: Maison Des Jeune'.

The album is out December 9 on Transgressive Records, and is available to purchase as a digital download here. A physical release is due in 2014.

This album is the latest part of the Africa Express project, set up by Albarn to promote artistic collaboration between African and western musicians. Last year Africa Express organised a train tour carrying 80 artists on a unique journey around the UK, making music as they travelled. Watch Albarn discuss this below.

The launch event of 'Africa Express Presents: Maison Des Jeunes' is December 9 at London's Oval Space, with live performances from Songhoy Blues and Kankou Kouyaté, Ghostpoet, Metrononmy's Olugbenga Adelekan, and Django Django's David Maclean. The documentary on the 2012 Africa Express train tour will also be screened.
