'Moonlight' is the upcoming album from Hanni El Khatib. A keen proponent of DIY ethics, HEK took 'do it yourself' very literally spending 30 days isolated in a studio in his native L.A.
The resulting recordings form "Moonlight" (released 19th January via Innovative Leisure) with its title track (and accompanying video below) - an instantly accessible yet weirdly unhinged mix of hip hop beats and American rock n' roll swagger.
The moody nocturnal video "represents the inner dialogue and struggle to find some sort of peace of mind," according to the director, Daniel Pappas. He explains further "set against the backdrop of suburban America where big box retail stores and restaurant chains have made most of our decisions for us."
"My approach is still the same," Hanni El Khatib explains. "Do things you've never done before. Challenge yourself. Be free and be creative. The same thing holds true for everything I've ever done, whether painting or design or skateboarding or whatever. Do it for the right reasons-exploring yourself. That's what it's about."
