New single 'Cannonball' signals new direction

Monday 13th June 2016

Hidden Charms new single 'Cannonball' see's the London 4 piece steer away from their psychedelic tinged previous releases into a more progressive sound, hints of funk and early glam pull through whilst keeping their influences firmly rooted in garage and blues rock.

Name, Where are you from?
Vincent Davies, from London.

What do you do?
Lead singer of Hidden Charms.

Describe your style in three words.
Monkey, Fire, Rattle.

What was the first song you played on repeat?
'Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground' by The White Stripes.

How should your music be listened to?
Our music should really be heard live, ideally people would listen to our stuff on vinyl but anyway people want to enjoy our music is OK!

What do you miss about home when you’re on tour?
I miss my dog Betty and being clean, in my normal life I like to keep quite clean and tidy but on the road it all goes out the window and you end up wearing the same top for about 3 weeks, disgusting really.

What British music icons inspire your sound today?
British music icons that inspire our sound today would be people like The Coral or the Arctic Monkeys who I’m sure were inspired by The Coral, I think people who like guitars from our age group were all effected by each Arctic Monkeys album that came out every year.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – Hiding All Away
A classic example of Nick Cave being Nick Cave.

YAK – Harbour The Feeling
This is the kind of song that made me want to play guitar as kid, YAK make me feel better about being in a band.

Timber Timbre – Bad Ritual
This is a wonderful song that to me sounds like Elvis if Sam Phillips had Dr Dre co producing.

Captain Beefheart - Party Of Special Things To Do
Beefheart. What more can you say?
