Kindness - Otherness

Wednesday 8th October 2014

Here at Fred Perry Subculture we love a genre-crossing mix of sounds, and Adam Bainbridge, aka Kindness is one of the most exciting new projects around, providing sophisticated pop that spans across the sounds of funk, disco, electro, hip hop, R&B, Soul and Jazz. Complete with piano, horn, cowbells and saxophones, Kindness' second album, Otherness, is an expansive, complex arrangement, drawing from classic 80s soul and 90s dance.

Bainbridge himself is a fey, alluring artist, adept in the art of modern production, super tall and slim, clad in a stylish blue tailored suit on the cover art. Having stated his desire to move away from the direction of his debut album, Kindness has certainly achieved this - by surrounding himself with a range of compelling artists during the writing process. Co-writing and/or recording in cities around the world, the album includes collaboration from RobynKelelaDevonté Hynes, M.anifest, Ade and Tawiah.  Otherness is produced by Bainbridge and mixed by Blue May, Jimmy Douglass and Bainbridge.

The album will be officially releases on 13th October via Female Energy Records, and you can stream it in advance here.

The album opens with 'World Restart' feat. Kelela & Ade, a brass-laden, sophisticated funk tune, followed by 'This is Not About Us', a melodic, dance track, with 808-style beats, subtle piano accompaniments, and muted horns. Watch the brand new video, complete with Bainbridge and another dancer in this choreographed, wonderful performance, below.
