Mafia Lights are a young trio from Surrey who make pop music for outlaws. After featuring their haunting track Charlotte on a compilation, Teeth Records put out their debut EP in March 2011. As each song on the EP had an accompanying music video, it was released on VHS tape. Since then, the band were called one of 2011's most exciting acts by the NME and praised by many a blogger.
The band have been gigging away in London with their eclectic chillrave show. In one glorious set you'll bear witness to island jams, IDM beats, arena filling choruses and unhinged guitar freakouts.
A recent run in with the law meant that all three band members and their camera man spent a total of 80 hours in police custody. It was the result of a video shoot gone wrong and the band were ordered to destroy the footage.
Instead of what they had planned to put out, the lads were forced to release the video for their new song West. With production assistance from Guy Lawrence of Disclosure, the song is regarded as their finest yet. Remixes by Regal Safari and Amusement are currently in the works, and the band are looking to release it with the remixes on 7" in the new year.
