March of the Mods

Thursday 26th February 2015

Throughout the month of March, 36 events will be held across the UK (and one in Tenerife), with over 200 bands and DJs taking part in a fundraising drive for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The event, March Of The Mods, is a grass-roots co-operative of organisers, bands, DJ’s and people who are connected by their love of the ‘board church’ that is mod culture. They organise and promote their local events individually with a collective aim to raise as much as possible for Teenage Cancer Trust, a UK charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young people with cancer aged 13 to 24.

This year Quadrophenia’s Gary Shail (Spider) will be attending, along with celebrity baker, Stacie Stewart at the Hartlepool event, and Acid Jazz Records owner Eddie Piller will appear at the Reading event, along with Norman Jay MBE.

While most of the bands playing are ‘mod’ favourites such as The Universal, The Sha La La’s and Geno Washington and The Ram Jam Band, there are also a number of covers bands, original bands and solo artists giving up their time to support the events. The full list of events are listed below, or head to the website to find out more.

As well as these events, recently unveiled was the March of the Mods double album compilation ‘Causing A Scene’, featuring original artists from the sixties as well as new and up and coming artists. Further details are available from the March Of The Mods website and Facebook pages. There are a total of forty-one bands/artists that have contributed to the album, covering the broad spectrum of  ‘Mod Culture’. Featuring original artists from the sixties to present day.
