Northwest Indiana band, Native, will be dropping their sophomore album "Orthodox" on 20 August via the Los Angeles label Sargent House.
Advance track “Coin Toss” storms out of the gate with a drum pattern laid down by Nick Glassen, interweaving guitar lines (courtesy of Dan Evans and Ed O’Neill) and Bobby Markos handling the low end on both bass and vocals. The urgent tempo (reminiscent of Jawbox and Fugazi) stops abruptly at the three-minute mark and the remaining minute plus is a subdued single guitar and ambient studio noise—a bold gambit that actually pays off.
Orthodox, recorded by Greg Norman (Russian Circles, Pelican) in Tolono, IL and Chicago throughout 2012 and 2013, follows the band’s 2010 debut LP Wrestling Moves and a 2008 self-released EP (We Delete: Erase).
