News of a smart new comedy from writer Jonny Owen and director John Hardwick (whose credits include music videos for the likes of Blur and Orbital). "Svengali" stars This Is England's award winning Vicky McClure and Jonny Owen (pictured above), the latter of which also found time to give us a crowd frenzy inducing DJ set at The Dot to Dot Festival last month.
"Svengali" will premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival but for those not attending you can still enjoy the genuinely entertaining trailer below, which also features Martin Freeman, Matt Berry and many other famous faces.
Telling a story that will no doubt ring true with many, "Svengali" follows Dixie (Jonny Owen) and his girlfriend Shell (Vicky McClure) who leave their small Welsh hometown, moving to London to fulfil Dixie's dream of managing a band that will one day stand shoulder to shoulder in the rock hall of fame with the likes of The Stone Roses and The Sex Pistols. The film started life as a cult online series on YouTube, before graduating to the big screen this Summer.
Jake Bugg provides the music for the trailer, with the soundtrack for the film promising to be of equal calibre.
