Outlook Festival 2013

Wednesday 8th May 2013

Taking place at the end of the festival season from Thursday 29th August to Monday 2nd September, Outlook Festival 2013 has a line up that establishes itself as Europe’s leading bass music and soundsystem culture festival.

Set at the striking Fort Punta Christo Pula in Croatia, this stunning country is also home to many other Bass, House and Electronic music festivals, such as Hideout, Dimensions and a new one for 2013, Unknown festival.

Outlook is host to a massive variation of Artists. From the likes of Garage/House Dj DJ EZ to the producers of soulful summer tunes Maribou State, and heavy bass sounds in contrast to a mix of laidback tracks from Eton Messy and Bonobo, Outlook this year is not one to be missed.

Here at Fred Perry Subculture, we've selected our favourite artists and labels from the line-up.

BONOBO- Simon Green, the man behind Bonobo is having an excellent year. Since producing ‘Black Sands’ in 2010, Green has remained true to his unique style. From collaborating with vocalist Grey Reverend from The Cinematic Orchestra to releasing his most recent album ‘ The North Borders,’ this month, tracks such as Emkay and Cirrus have attracted attention with their repetitive drumbeats played alongside soft deep bass-lines.

Bonobo - Cirrus

SWAMP 81- Of course the Swamp 81 label will be back this year including, Loefah, Boddika, Paleman and Zed Bias with their hints of the quantized drum machines mixed with dark, bass and house drops. They’re doing well on their mission to create their own special hybrid of the dance music genre.

Zed Bias & Paleman - Furrball

PHAELEH- Is yet another great artist to come out of Bristol, Matt Preston (Phaeleh) produces ambient, intelligent dance music with a focus on melody. Phaeleh uses a chilled bass line alongside faster paced electronic sounds to create this atmospheric, dreamlike music. A few special picks of tracks by him include, Losing You, Healing and of course After Glow. Have a listen.

Phaeleh - Afterglow (feat. Soundmouse)

MARIBOU STATE- Starting out in 2011, Maribou State this year has made appearances from Val Thorens Ski Resort in March to London’s Fabric in April meaning an ever expanding audience for the pair. Creating soulful bouncy house influenced tracks, with a summer feel to them. This song I feel was made for the beach in Croatia, definitely a 6.00am tune. Enjoy.
