Pete McKee - The Joy Of Sheff

Monday 13th May 2013

Sheffield has always enjoyed a place in the heart of the UK's subcultures, particularly Northern Soul and Britpop, so why not take a moment to celebrate The Joy of Sheff - Pete McKee's art exhibition about his home city, on 18th May at The Blue Shed on Brightside Lane in Sheffield.

McKee explains more about the one day only event, “Sheffielders are very proud of their city but also very self deprecating. This exhibition plays on both those characteristics and will be very tongue in cheek. I want to play on the mythology of Sheffield, its proud heritage and its characters. It will be my last exhibition about Sheffield. I want people who visit to feel they have witnessed something special. I want to put on a show.”

With numerous spectacles, including the huge mural pictured above, The Joy Of Sheff looks well worth a visit.

There will also be a 2p Bus Ride in an original 1960s Sheffield bus, which will take people to and from the exhibition till 4pm.
