Summer 2016 UK & European Tour Dates

Tuesday 2nd February 2016

Modern British icons don't come much bigger than John Lydon, fronting not only Sex Pistols but also Public Image Limited (PiL). One of the most successful and long-lived post-punk bands, Lydon formed PiL in 1978, following the demise of Sex Pistols, and the group quickly became regarded as one of the most innovative bands of the 20th century with memorable anthems like 'Rise' proving punk's spirit of reinvention was alive and well.

1992 would see the band step out of the spotlight, but in 2009 Lydon reformed PiL marking a second era of the band's creativity. Following the 2015 release of their 10th album 'What The World Needs Now...' and a well-received tour of UK, Europe and North America, PiL have announced another tour for Summer 2016 (see dates at end of post). The band will also take in a headline slot at Bearded Theory Festival as part of their schedule.

Aside from Lydon's major role in Punk history, the other members of PiL also have some heavyweight punk heritage. Lu Edmonds (multi instrumentalist) was guitarist with The Damned before joining PiL in 1986. Affiliating himself with PiL in the same year as Edmonds, drummer Bruce Smith previously played with The Pop Group and The Slits. Scott Firth (bassist/multi instrumentalist) played with many other artists, perhaps most notably, Elvis Costello.
