Name, where are you from?
We are PUREST from Sheffield

Describe your style in three words?
Grungy Indie mess

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
We all saw The Horrors in London. We got covered in human waste and crowd surfed to the stage, I lost all my possessions in the venue, still worth it!

If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
The Jesus and Marychain and Echo and the Bunnymen. Although we’ve already had the pleasure of meeting and playing with Ian McCulloch. They’ve both influenced us massively both stylistically and songwriting.

Which Subcultures have influenced you?
The bands involved throughout the C86 music movement all had timeless style and wrote brilliant instant pop drenched songs, bands like the House of Love, The Smiths and Primal Scream etc...

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Lou Reed because he shaped the face of guitar music as we know it, he pioneered writing dark depressing pop songs.

Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
The Water Rats in London has a special place in our hearts. We get to play there on the 6th of December again! The last time it was packed out and they allowed us to play past curfew, it’s very intimate and sweaty!

Your greatest hero or heroine in music?
Robert Smith from The Cure, he’s someone who forged his own style and stuck to it throughout his career.

2018 saw Purest play alongside their personal heroes Echo and The Bunnymen and label owner Gary Powell’s band, The Libertines at the Libs' own festival. Their latest EP ‘Waste My Days' is out now on Gary Powell's 25 Hour Convenience Store.
