Royal Baths

Monday 23rd January 2012

Formed in San Francisco, and now based out of Brooklyn, NY, Royal Baths is comprised of Jeremy Cox and Jigmae Baer. The duo’s music, while rooted in Cox’s love for delta blues, is finding favour in the garage rock underground, where RB has toured with The Fresh and Onlys and Wild Flag. Baer was also a touring member of Thee Oh Sees and Ty Seagall, two of the leading lights of the West Coast garage rock scene.

Royal Baths have previously released a 7” single and a full-length entitled Litanies via the ultra-hip label Woodist, and will drop their sophomore album, Better Luck Next Life, on Kanine Records on 7 February.  Advance single “Darling Divine” comes on bluesy and narcotic, recalling the Velvet Underground at their darkest, while the promotional video for “Black Sheep” experiments with video feedback, uncomfortable close-ups, cross-dressing and wonky interpretive dancing.

Royal Baths will celebrate Better Luck Next Life with a day-of-release show at Brooklyn’s Death by Audio. A short U.S. tour will make stops in Philadelphia, Washington DC, Nashville and Chicago. The group will also be showcasing at the South by Southwest Music Conference, 14-17 March, in Austin, Texas.
