Punk-roots-rockers, Smiley & The Underclass emerged from the melting pot of West London's Ladbroke Grove as the soundtrack of 21st Century multicultural London.Echoing the rebellious call-to-arms of Bob Dylan & The Clash, Smiley sings the revolution blues with a burning fire largely missing from today's music scene.
The group just launched their debut EP with a show at Mau Mau's in Portobello West London, last weekend. The EP is available for physical purchase and digital download here. It was recorded and produced by Nick Manasseh at 'The Yard' in West London and features legendary Studio One trombonist, Vin Gordon, AKA Don Drummond Junior, known for his work with Bob Marley & The Wailers, Burning Spear & The Skatalites.
The EP is available to stream below, and watch the video for 'It's All England' here.
Smiley recently recorded music as part of the Musicjelly art project - where samples of prerecorded music are played as audiovisual loops, which seamlessly fit together, allowing attendees to the live installations to control what is playing and when, embarking on their own musical adventures.
