Name, where are you from?
José Luis Coloma Boronat. I’m from Alicante, but I live in Madrid for 16 years now.

What do you do?
I'm a fashion journalist. I contribute to many fashion media like GQ or Cosmopolitan writing about fashion and lifestyle. But my dream actually is to be paid for making others laugh.

Describe your style in three words?
Dynamic, modern and eclectic.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
My first Bryan Adams concert at Palau Sant Jordi (Barcelona) in 1999 really impressed me. They had Blondie also as the opening guest band, and they just had released back then 'Maria'. I shared this unforgettable experience with my father.

If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
I have a crazy predilection for boy bands from all types of musical styles. Now I'm obsessed with some K Pop like SHINee. Talking about European bands, I very much like HURTS.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Disco music scene from the '70s always made me vibe. I don’t know what disco aesthetic has, bands like Bee Gees, Earth, Wind & Fire or the famous Studio 54 has always fascinated me. As a teenager I used to listen to Britpop: Blur, Oasis, Richard Ashcroft from The Verve were all playing on loop on my Discman. House music which I was dancing until death in the 2000s first decade has also left something on me. For pre-drinks or a sunrise, soft house always felt like a dream.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I would say Freddie Mercury. I consider his life very interesting for the social moment he lived and for all his legacy. I don’t know why but I have a deep inside connection with his song 'Barcelona' with Montserrat Caballé and every time I play the song I end up crying.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Clearly Michael Jackson. I don’t have words to describe what I feel every time that I hear one of his songs.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
'Bitter Sweet Symphony' by The Verve. It always took me to my dreams of how it would be my adult life. I'm still experimenting that feeling.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'Sweet Child O’ Mine' by Guns N’Roses. I have two twin sisters Alejandra and Giovanna, seven years older than me. They used to play this song when they were getting ready before going out with friends. I remember those first times when I was 14 or 15 years old.

One record you would keep forever?
'(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?' From Oasis. I think defines to perfection how the last years of the '90s were. The celebrity phenomenon was born, the success, the amounts of money and the appearance of the media 24 hours.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
'Free' by Ultra Naté. Every time I had my heart broken, this was my hit!

A song you wished you had written?
'Free Bird' by Lynyrd Skynyrd. It is impeccable, stanza after stanza.

Best song to turn up loud?
'Boogie Wonderland' by Earth, Wind & Fire. It cheers me up and makes me feel very happy.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Got 2 Luv U' by Sean Paul ft. Alexis Jordan. I hate it and love it, depends on the day.

The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Murder On The Dancefloor' by Sophie Ellis-Bextor. I love it!

Best song to end an all-nighter?
'Jealousy' by Martin Solveig. By the moment I play it I want to go out over and over.

Any new bands you are into at the moment?
I’ve been listening back to classics that I’ve had forgotten like Jamiroquai's 'Traveling without Moving' and Coldplay's discography.
