Introduce yourself
My name is Kim Younghwa and I am 22. I am a Youtuber and also run a fashion brand.

Describe your style in three words?
Vintage. Kitsch. Natural. It is actually difficult to describe my style. I am always trying different styles.

What inspires your work?
Communication with people inspires me. I have been doing my Youtube channel for 4 years and reactions from my subscribers mean a lot.

Where is your favourite Independent venue in Seoul?
I live in Hongdae which is one of Seoul’s hotspots for subcultures. There is a famous playground you can see lots of buskers. I like passing by the playground to enjoy cool gigs.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
I used to like hip-hop when I was younger and I think it still influences me. I was collecting underground rappers mixtapes and listening to them every day. That is what got me into streetwear as well.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I would like to spend time with my mom when she was in my age.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen. I watched their live videos many times. I fell in love with Queen after I watched the film 'Bohemian Rhapsody'.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'I Am The Best' by 2NE1. When I was a teenager, 2NE1 was my favourite k-pop star.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
'Juice' by Lizzo. When I watched Lizzo’s live video, I liked her performance. One of her songs called ‘Juice’ made me dance. I like the lyrics of this song. I want to introduce this song to someone who doesn’t have self-confidence...

Best song to turn up loud?
'Highway To Hell' by AC/DC. When you play this song inside a car, open the window and enjoy the breeze, It’s the best.

A song to get you straight on the dance floor?
'Say So' by Doja Cat. Recently I learnt how to do the dance from Doja Cat’s Say So. Whenever I hear the song I can’t help but dance.

Best song to end an all-nighter?
'Nothing Without You' by 10cm. It’s an emotional song. I like listening to this song at dawn.

Best song to bring people together?
'We Are The Champions' by Queen. Best sing-along song ever.

The greatest love song of all time?
'Love Of My Life' by Queen. If Freddie Mercury was alive, I would fly anywhere I could to listen to this song live.
