A White / Ice / Maroon Takeover At Ken's Café

We take over West Ham’s finest pre-match breakfast spot with colours taken from the Fred Perry Shirt

Monday 24th September 2018

A true original: White / Ice / Maroon was one of the first Fred Perry Shirt colourways to feature our signature twin tipping. Now each colourway has its own story.

Although its roots are in tennis, the Fred Perry Shirt has been seen on terraces up and down the country since its beginnings. Hailed as an alternative to the footie shirt, fans quickly began asking their local sports shops to make them in their beloved team colours. Legend has it that it was a buyer from Lillywhites that got in contact with Fred, asking for the plain colour Fred Perry Shirt to be trimmed with classic team colours.

And so our signature twin tipping was born. The first shirt to ever feature tipping in a 5-4-4 ratio and it all started with the white / ice / maroon of West Ham United.

To celebrate the legend and myth of our White / Ice / Maroon M12, we look to another icon: Ken’s Café. West Ham’s most-loved pre-game breakfast spot on Green Street, Ken’s place is just around the corner from where the Boleyn Ground once stood.

Although West Ham’s stadium moved in 2016, not much has changed about the café. It’s still owned by Ken and his wife Carol, and every weekend hordes of Hammers line up for a cup of tea and a bacon sandwich, before getting on the bus to Stratford.

In celebration of White / Ice / Maroon and its history, we transform Ken’s café. From the menus and tea mugs on the tables, to the sign outside, we take the colours of the M12 Fred Perry Shirt back to where it all started.

Check out our White / Ice / Maroon takeover at Ken’s café until 6th October.
