Name, where are you from?
Ayaka Tatamino, from Ishikawa, Japan.
What do you do?
Vocals & Guitar in the band Homecomings.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
A recent one would be a band called Night Flowers. We played together at Fever (Shin-daita) and Conpass (Shinsaibashi) back in November 2018. They are apparently inviting us on tour in April 2019 so I suppose it’s a mutual love.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
Films I guess. For example, I picked Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys on the playlist but he composed the soundtrack to the film 'Submarine'. The story itself is very dark but purely amazing. One of our music videos references the scene where he walks along the poolside (laughs).
Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
Fantasy Kids Taichung, one of the venues we played when we went on tour in Taiwan in 2018. It’s a cosy space with the bar set up beside the stage and the atmosphere was just different from the usual live venue, which was very nice.
If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
Teenage Fanclub and Prefab Sprout… My favourite band is Teenage Fanclub (laughs). I have actually performed with the vocalist Norman Blake when he visited Japan as a solo artist. I would like to sing vocals & play the guitar during the period when they released 'Songs From Northern Britain'.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
That’s hard… I’ve spoken to Norman Blake in person before so instead, I’d like to go on a walk in winter with Roddy Frame from Aztec Camera (laughs).
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Night Flowers. Surprisingly, they still aren’t well known.
