London

Name?
Holly Carter

Where are you based?
London

What do you do?
I am the lead vocalist and guitarist of BERRIES.

Describe your style in three words?
Black scruffy jeans.

You can make a record with anyone from history - who would it be?
Sister Rosetta Tharpe and her record ‘Didn’t It Rain’. This woman was incredible.

She was such a charismatic and feisty soul singer and guitarist.
I think she was well ahead of her time musically and so focused on what she wanted to do.

I'd love to make a record with such a trailblazer.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been too?
Biffy Clyo - I was lucky enough to see them play some ‘smallish’ venues years ago when they were less established and they just blew the roof off as you can imagine.

Nottingham Rock City was certainly a memorable one, we were absolutely packed in it was amazing and very very sweaty!

Chosen track ‘Wolves of Winter’ by Biffy Clyro

What British music icons inspire your sound today?
Good question, a bit of Biffy mashed together with some Bloc Party and a sprinkling of Muse I think!

Chosen track ‘Psycho’ by Muse.

You can spend an hour with anyone from history - who would it be?
Agatha Christie. I think we would go for afternoon tea in an old manor house.
