Islet are psychedelic prog adventurers from Wales. The fearless art-breakers are known for their explosive live shows and DIY philosophy; organising cross-artform events, publishing zines and disseminating them for free at live performances.
Live performances are marked by the refusal to stand still, rotating between instruments, fluctuating from blistering to gentle and always fizzing with sheer enjoyment that comes through making music. A set may start out with ghostly choirs and wisp-on-the-wind vocals, skip through noise rock and end up ferocious post-punk. Or they may beguile onlookers with ritualistic chants, meandering into the crowd. In person as in music, they seek to break down walls.
Islet have announced the release of a new single from their forthcoming album ‘Released By The Movement’. ‘Triangulation Station’ is a maximalist psych-prog adventure, streaming here. The fearless art-breakers are known for their explosive live shows and DIY philosophy; organising cross-artform events, publishing zines and disseminating them for free at live performances. The track was recorded by Stephen Black (aka Sweet Baboo) and will be released on Mark Daman Thomas’s own inimitable Shape Records label, on limited 12” vinyl and download. The single will come with with three additional exclusive tracks, new Islet track ‘Inlet’, a woozy drone remix of ‘Triangulation Station’ by Welsh musician/producer R. Seiliog and Islet’s remix of I Chi by the Danish band Pinkunoizu.
‘Released By The Movement’ is due for release in the autumn of 2013 and follows Islet’s Spring foray to the SXSW festival in the US and last year’s Welsh Music Prize shortlisted album ‘Illuminated People’.
