Future Classic have recently announced their latest signing of young Sydney up-starts, New Navy, and to set the band off in the right direction, next month welcomes the worldwide release of a 10" vinyl of debut EP, 'Uluwatu'.
For a taste of what's in store, a free download of the first single 'Zimbabwe' is available from Future Classic's SoundCloud. From the "whistle while you work" intro featured in 'Zimbabwe' to the summer grooves of 'Tapioca' to the dramatic crescendo of 'Oceans', the EP demonstrates New Navy's powerful songwriting ability, diverse and somewhat playful approach to making music.
The band successfully balance sparkly guitars with front man Ben McInerny's smooth vocals whilst delivering strong bass-lines that drive indie grooves to great effect. Having received impressive support so early in their career from national radio alongside glowing comparisons to Foals, The Whitest Boy Alive and Cold War Kids by other media outlets, it shows how far this four piece has come since the release of their three-track demo last year.
