Chicago-based Irish punk/folk group The Tossers capped off 2014 with a local New Year’s Eve show and will take part in the Salty Dog Cruise setting sale from Miami, Florida on 13 March, 2015. The cruise, hosted by fellow Celtic rockers Flogging Molly, will make two stops in the Bahamas before returning to Miami and will also showcase performances and DJ sets by Gogol Bordello, Frank Turner, Mariachi El Bronx and Cut Chemist.
The Tossers, formed in the early 90s on Chicago’s working class south side, is comprised of T. Duggins on vocals and mandolin, Aaron Duggins on whistle and button accordion, Rebecca Brooke M. on violin, Mike Pawula on guitar, Peter Muschong on bass and Bones on drums.
The band has thirteen titles in a catalog that stretches back to 1994’s self-released The Pint of No Return. They have recorded for top U.S. punk labels Thick and (more recently) Victory, who dropped 2013’s The Emerald City. Of the most recent album, bandleader T. Duggins writes “There was a lot more preparation and care taken with the recording; and it's more about us, it's far more personal to me than anything before.”
Other notable releases by The Tossers include On a Fine Spring Evening (Victory Records, 2008), Gloatin’ & Showboatin’: Live on St. Patrick’s Day CD/DVD (Victory Records, 2008), Communication & Conviction: The Last 7 Years (Thick Records, 2001), The First League Out From Land EP (Thick Records, 2001) and a split single with fellow Chicagoans The Arrivals that was issued by Smilin’ Bob Records in 1998.
