To mark the release of their incredible new album, the band have put together the rather eclectic playlist, as follows.
The View have released 5th studio album Ropewalk on September 4th on Cooking Vinyl. Produced by Albert Hammond Jr & Gus Oberg (The Strokes), Under The Rug is out now.
Frontman Kyle Falconer said of the Album, “I would say that this record has really taken us out of our comfort zone. It was a huge compliment having Albert & Gus produce the album and we're really excited with the result. I think it's our most inventive album yet, we really opened ourselves up to creative possibilities and thankfully the vision paid off. We can't wait to get out there and play it live..."
Off the back of Isle of Wight, T in The Park and Kyle Falconer’s tour with Mark Ronson performing The Bike Song, (Glastonbury, Benicassim and Australian dates) The View are pleased to announce a UK tour in September and October. The tour kicks off in Aberdeen on September 16th.
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club-Ain't No Easy Way
We saw them supporting Oasis and we were blown away by them. The whole band are in mutual agreement on this one...to be played at full volume
Billy Joel-Scenes from an Italian Restaurant
I've always been a fan of Billy Joel and kinda introduced the band. It's a similar vibe to wings or The Beatles
Michael Jackson-Man in the Mirror
What an absolute musical legend. It's good to have a wee cry on the tour bus sometimes. It's a really emotional, sentimental song that I sing at the top of my voice.
Alanis Morrisette-All I Really Want
This whole album is amazing. She's one of the best vocalists I've ever heard.
Sound of Guns-Collisions (not on Spotify)
It started off that I used to play it to wind up the Tour Manager as it has a really menacing and repetitive beat so I used to play it on loop and it's become one of my favourite tracks from their album.
I put this on when am in a hyper mood just to show off that I can rap and that I know all the lyrics! Haha. It's a great tune.
Thin Lizzy-The Rocker
This is Mo's choice (drummer) he absolutely loves them. Thin Lizzy always gets everyone in the mood to party.
This is really euphoric and it's great when we're all together on the bus. You can play this tune at full volume and can still here all the arrangements perfectly.
ELO-Mr blue sky
We practise our harmonies to this one and it's very Beatlesque. Anything reminiscent of The Beatles gets my vote
Paolo nutini-These streets
This is so sentimental and reminds us of Scotland. It's the one we play at the end of the night. It's actually one of the tracks that changed my musical opinion of him. I think he's a genius
Clash - London Calling
Such a cool tune. We always used to play this on the tour bus when we came to London with our heads stuck out the sun roof screaming it out.
The Beatles - Hey Bulldog (not on Spotify)
Anything and everything from The Beatles gets played. I absolutely love this song... such good vibes.
The Weeknd - Can't feel my face
For obvious reasons lyrically we like to listen to this tune when we're partying
