Name, where are you from?
My name is Gelya and I'm from Moscow, Russia.

What do you do?
I'm a design producer.

Describe your style in three words?
My style needs just one word and the word is "easy".

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
The best gig I have ever been to was Connan Mockasin’s gig in Moscow. It was a pure pleasure. The dudes were in an absolute musical trance. And the whole audience was a part of their immersion. I stood with an indelible smile and caught every sound like a blind kitten.

If you could put any three bands in history on a lineup?
Three is not enough for me, but I'll try:
Prince, Bjork and Tricky.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
I haven't really been into subcultures, but my high school years were around rock and punk rock music of the last century.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Nina Simone. There are lots of good artists, but Nina is the one I wanna meet.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
I was 13 or 14. I uploaded the album 'Dummy' by Portishead to my iPod and spent a couple of hours listening to 'Roads' lying on the floor of my room. This is still one of the most beloved tracks in my life.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'I Think We're Alone Now' by Tiffany. Nothing makes you a teenager as much as the pop hits of the '80s.

One record you would keep forever?
'Angel' by Massive Attack. The best one.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
'Home With You' by FKA Twigs. The lyrics of the last FKA Twigs album resonate with me and my thoughts very much.

A song you wished you had written?
'Four Ethers' by Serpentwithfeet. I was paralyzed when I heard the song for the first time.

Best song to turn up loud?
Every Young Fathers' song.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Lady' by Modjo and 'Pure Shores' by All Saints. You can expect anything from me. I love different things and my preferences are definitely not about impeccable taste. But I don't care about it. That's two bests from my drunk way home playlist.

A song to get you straight on the dance floor?
'Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless)' Crystal Waters. House music gets everybody straight on the dance floor.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

'You Need The Drugs' by Westbam ft. Richard Butler.

Any new bands you’re into at the moment?
'You'll Miss Me When I'm Not Around' by Grimes.
'Devotion' by Tirzah ft. Coby Sey.
'2 Strong' by Sega Bodega.
'It's Okay To Cry' by SOPHIE.
'NOBODY' by COUCOU CHLOE.
