03Interview

Name, where are you from?
Noga Erez, Tel Aviv, Israel.

Describe your style in three words?
Suits and hoodies.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Radiohead concert in Berlin in 2011. It was the first time I’d seen Radiohead live (but not the last) and I was so inspired for so long after. I think this show really got me thinking about performance a lot and what I wanna bring to the table when it comes to live shows.

If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
Gorillaz. I have been coming back to their music very heavily recently and I saw a bunch of live shows on YouTube. I just really want to see them live and that’s probably a good way to do it. Slowthai. I just love this guy so much. I’d love to see him live but also, hanging out with him backstage sounds like a lot of fun.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
One of the most renowned poets in Israel is Lea Goldberg. She was a poet, author and playwright who wrote some of the most amazing poems I’ve ever read. Her craft and her perspective on life was always fascinating to me. I think something about her character would make me feel at ease and not ‘star struck’, and I’d be able to converse with her about creativity and working on different mediums of art at the same time.

Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
Barby, Tel Aviv. Because it’s home.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
IZABO! One of my favourite bands of all time. Always ahead of their time. Never truly discovered globally, which is a shame for the world!

Noga Erez will release her new album 'Kids' on 26th March 2021. Pre-order it via nogaerez.lnk.to/EOTRYD.

One record you would keep forever?
'Let England Shake' by PJ Harvey.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
'FEEL.' by Kendrick Lamar.

The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Freestyler' by Bomfunk MC's.

A song you wished you had written?
'Twice' by Little Dragon.

'#Twerkit' by Busta Rhymes.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'All The Stars' by Kendrick Lamar, SZA.
