Name, where are you from?
I’m Sam Tompkins and I’m from Brighton, UK

Describe your style in three words?
Colourful, Unique, Unbothered.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Rex Orange County at Brixton Academy.

If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
Stevie Wonder and Justin Bieber. Stevie because he’s one of the greatest artists of all time, and the Biebs because I think I could learn a lot from him.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
I think the anti-pop subculture in music has influenced me a lot because it showed me music can come in any form and still fit somewhere and made me feel like my artistry belongs somewhere.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Kanye West in his early days as I feel like he was just so impulsive in the most groundbreaking way.

Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
Favourite venue ever was my headline at the O2 in Islington because it was so shocking to see so many people in one room for me. So inspiring and probably a feeling I will be chasing for the rest of my life.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
My friend, Jamal Woon. One of the most positive energies I’ve ever been around and always puts others first, so it’s about time someone put him first.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
'You Said No' by Busted.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'HiiiPower' by Kendrick Lamar.

One record you would keep forever?
'Pink Matter' by Frank Ocean.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
"This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you."

From 'Vincent (Starry Starry Night)' by Don McLean.

The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Ratchet Happy Birthday' by Drake.

A song you wished you had written?
'7 Years' by Lukas Graham.

Best song to turn up loud?
'Heartache' by Jaykae.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Dumb' by Kopps.

Best song to end an all-nighter on?
'Pursuit Of Happiness' by Kid Cudi.

Any new music you are listening to right now?
'Supalonely' by Benee.
'Light Up' by Xander850.
