03Interview

Name, where are you from?
We’re Buzzard and we’re from Cardiff. I’m Tom and I play guitar and sing, and I’m lucky enough to be in a band with Ed Rees on bass, Zac White on guitar and Ethan Hurst on drums.

Describe your style in three words:
Double Denim Hopping.

How should your music be listened to?
Ironically.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
I went to Parades de Coura with my girlfriend a couple of years ago, which is a beautiful festival in North Portugal. I know it’s not a gig per se but I got to see Pond, Father John Misty and Fuzz in the same day wearing a t-shirt and not freaking out about it raining so it was pretty special. Pond played the loudest guitar part I’ve ever heard it changed my life.

Which new British bands are you listening to at the moment?
I listen to Boy Azooga every day, my guitar hero and good friend Zac White has also released a single recently which is amazing, I’ve also been listening to Matt Maltese’s new stuff which is great, anything produced by Jon Rado is pure gold.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
The formative stages of glam-rock in the early '70s was and always will be huge for me, the music and style that came forward in those years is visually and audibly stunning. Electric Warrior is like Tutankhamen’s Tomb to me, it should be in museums across the world.

Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard will release their debut EP 'Non-Stop' on 10th July 2020 on Communion Records.

04Playlist Notes

First song you played on repeat?

The last physical piece of music you bought?
'Imagine' by John Lennon (no guessing if I’m a Lennon fan).

Best love song of all time?
'Chocolate Milk' by Norman Greenbaum.

A song you like that people wouldn’t expect?
'A Street That Rhymes at 6AM' by Norma Tanega.
